It might be. Mind you, how much money can you realistically generate from approx 50 "actual" members?! LMAO

I thought exactly the same thing. Each time I'm up for renewal I swear I'm not going to bother then something happens and the need to not miss out gets the better of me and I end up signing up for another year.Quote:

The fanclub is yet to produce anything worthy of joining in my humble opinion.
ATM I have 7 days left on my membershiop and still haven't renewed but there's been a few times when I've sat at the cop, plastic in hand about to renew then changed my mind again

The thing is its fine to renew if thats what you want and its fine not to as well.
But what I would do is wait and see whats on offer. No need to join on a what if or a maybe something good will happen. Wait till it does.. wait till tour time and see if they are offering anything worth joining for. No shame in joining for the perks then. Its what fanclub are all about even if they try and promote just being is good enough.. most of them know its the tickets people want and the other good stuff.

Yep, Kat's right! Save your money until you know what you'll be getting for it. There's no sense in throwing money away if they're not gonna offer anything for it is there? Atm all you get for your cash is news and piccies first but so what? You only have to wait a couple of days until you hear about it or see them anyway and sometimes it's not even that long. Also, it's not like they're even bothering anymore with their much-touted e-Zine....
Oh dear, I'm about to commit blasphemy, but I've had a guts full of emo male twiddly "female empowerment by emasculated man" crap lyric songs lately, that I'm not sure I'm up to putting up with another
The Daniel Powter/Rob Thomas/James Blunt-ness of it all is making me want to blast something with a bit of balls...very loudly.
This is sad...how did I get to a place where I'm simply "meh" about an impending Darren release.
Ah well. I'll wait until I hear it on the radio for real - maybe the feeling will kick in then. I got a real buzz out of hearing the new Robbie song on the radio yesterday for the first time, so maybe I'll get that when the full media hype begins for Darren.
I hear what you are saying Amanda. James Blunt and Daniel Powters voices really leave me cold and so do their songs or the one I have heard of each lol
I do love my Rob Thomas though [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
I think I can forgive Darren one pure love song.. As thats how he was feeling and is feeling and wants to get that honesty out as much I guess as his angst honesty. I can usually stomach it more from Darren/SG as theres always that purity of voice to the songs.
In saying that I dont expect a whole albums of "so beautiful" type songs... I am sure there will be an eclectic mix in it..well there better be
So what I am trying to say is I am not a fan of sappy.. But the fact that Darren was a big sap was part of his allure that drew me to him in the first place.. I should at least try and accept that happy in love is a normal emotion to feel lol
Kat
I thought that So Beautiful was along the same sort of lines as James Blunt/Daniel Powter etc, I actually really like their music although I can't stand to watch James Blunt on the telly... there's something about his face that really gets on my nerves!!
As for the smushy sappy lurve song route.. I think that's just Darren going back to a thing that worked commercially for him. TTATS bombed but SG didn't and they were from Smush Central!!!!Plus with that sort of song doing well in the charts atm, hopefully there's a niche that SB will fit into nicely. Personally I think he might just pull it off as from what I've heard of the song so far it sounds great but think that if he was to stay on that route then he'd just start being known as "Darren Hayes the balladeer"(is that a word?!!) again and start getting the piss ripped out of him by the press, music industry etc again for being the guy that sings love songs that make you want to puke... BTW that's NOT my opinion but think you know whatI mean as it's been written about him a million times before.
Yup yup, know what you mean Kat - I'm of the "I can take sap more from Darren" bent to. LOL
I think it has to do with where I am in my life right now. When I came to D back in 2001, I needed the "emotional support". Now I don't. Plus I'm in a HUGE grumpy waiting for my big OS trip to begin LOL.
But I'm still eager to hear it on radio and see what feelings it inspires. Even though I'm about the soppy sap out at the moment, Darren's going to fit in PERFECTLY. Which is FANTASTIC, since he couldn't seem to find the fit for TTATS.
I agree Donna.. tis kind of catch 22 as you know the market is just loving those kind of songs and its what he is known for in terms of hits so its probably something that can get his career kicking again... but at the same time the critics will be saying oh the same old smhmaltz from Darren Hayes.. completly oblivious to the whole TTATS album and any other non love songs.
Amanda I know what you mean. I am not a love song fan either.. and most of it in the charts with their googly eyes and annoying voices makes me wanna *puke* as well. But as we said when its Darren I am more open to it.. though he will get tossed in with all them lot.. which makes me cringe. Hopefully there will be a selection of songs that cover all emotions not a album of love songs lol
Kat
As I see it, there're 'love' songs like that hideous warbling nonsense by James Blunt and there're 'LOVE' songs like TLAM (my personal fave and the best ever), IKILY, TMD etc. I know which ones I prefer to listen to!
Of course, not every love song/ballad that SG/DH has produced has been good but he/they still rate a pretty high score in that genre imo.
